which programming language do you recommend for beginners?

I would recommend Java or Python probably.

I started off with Java because I took a computer science course in sophomore year. I did pretty well with that. There is a bunch of syntax things you have to follow and kind of remember, but you could get it.

I literally started learning Python half an hour ago. It seems pretty easy so far. There aren’t as many syntax things you need to remember. I know some courses start off teaching Python so it can’t be too terrible.

I really recommend checking out Codecademy to learn different coding languages. That’s basically how I’m teaching myself this summer.

I’m working with 3 languages this summer. I know Java, so I’m checking out JavaScript. HTML because blogging. Python because of a project I’m thinking about. (I also wanna learn C++ because of its usefulness in the future.)

Try taking Firefly by Owl City and slow it down by 10%. That is it. Do nothing else.

I haven’t been reading much lately. I read Gatsby before the movie came out and loved it a lot. That Fitzgerald guy knows how to write. How We Decide by Jonah Lehrer is high on my list. I read it a couple of years ago and that helped push me into science.

I don’t really have any permanent favorites. I’m starting to read The Psychopath Test by Jon Ronson. We’ll see how I like it.
